Walk Japan

Total Inspiration!

Kintaro Walks Japan is the meticulously filmed and edited story of Tyler MacNiven's 2,000 mile trek from the bottom of Japan to the very top. His five-month odyssey was meant to impress a girl and to find his American father's Japanese birthplace. Tyler arm wrestled 100-year old ladies, dodged trains in tunnels and walked into the hearts of the Japanese people, quickly becoming a celebrity.

Great Memory

“Itchy” Sonenshine, b. 1921, Charleston, S.C. : My father had a sense of humor that was really something else. I don’t know if you heard this story, but if you asked him how business was he would tell you in Yiddish, “Heint hab ich nit gesprochen ein wort English,” which means, “I haven’t spoken the first word of English yet today.” He hadn’t had a customer.

Anne Frank

When you are unhappy think about Anne Frank. She had an amazing soul and was a gifted young writer with buckets and buckets of hope. Her life was short and her purpose was not to live long enough so that she could inspire millions.

More Cheech

My sister is visiting and we were driving in the car and out of nowhere, she starts to sing:

"Mamma tried to sock it to me tell me how to live,"
duh nun nuh, duh nun nuh, dunt, dunt, dunt.
"But I could not listen, coz my head is like a sieve"
duh nun nuh, duh nun nuh, dunt, dunt, dunt.
Cheech and Chong

I was laughing SO HARD. I had to look this up and it is from a bit called Earache My Eye.

The correct lyrics are:
EARACHE MY EYE

My momma socks it to me
Trying to tell me how to live
But I don't listen to her
'Cause my head in like a sieve
My daddy kicked me out
'Cause I wear my sister's clothes
He caught me in the bathroom
With a pair of panty hose
Check it!

I still miss the World Trade Center

Thought about this song at the same time.

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass they slip away across the Universe.
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai Guru Deva Om.

Chorus:
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the Universe.
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the Universe.
Jai Guru Deva Om.

Chorus.

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing through my opened ears
Inciting and inviting me.
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
And calls me on and on across the Universe.
Jai Guru Deva Om.

Chorus.

Jai Guru Deva.

Ali McGraw

Ok, oh my goodness. Scott and I were going to see the movie World Trade Center, which by the way will be a heartbreaker of course. We had made dinner and were going to go to an early show and did not want to rush to finish eating. We had already checked out Love Story, the famous 1970 tear-jerker of another kind. It's a very well written story by Erich Segal.

What blew me away was Ali McGraw. Wow, wow what a true beauty. Today, she is 67 years old! I remember when my own grandmother was 67! Anyhow, I am having a hard time with the fact that she made that film in 1970. I was 9 years old (NINE!) at the time the movie came out and everyone was talking about the "Ali McGraw Hat"

What The BLEEP Do We Know!?

I saw the movie What The BLEEP Do We know!? and it really blew my mind. We know these things but this film puts it in an interesting perspective.

I Create My Day

I'm taking this time to create my day and I'm infecting the quantum field. Now if the observer is watching me the whole time that I'm doing this and there is a spiritual aspect to myself, then show me a sign today that you paid attention to any one of these things that I created, and bring them in a way that I won't expect, so I'm as surprised at my ability to be able to experience these things. And make it so that I have no doubt that it's come from you.

Steely Dan - AJA

And while I am on the topic of the 1970s. Gander at the cover of AJA by Steely Dan. Listen to this album; blows away most music today. Someone commented on iTunes that you are not getting older, today's music is getting worse in that this is a beautifully crafted group of songs. The album AJA by Steely Dan is mesmerizing, haunting and beautiful. Still.

Cheech and Chong, 1970s Humor

Ok, here is today's very scary and funny random thought (I don't know what it is with my memories and the 1970s lately)

"No stems or seeds that you don't need, Acapulco Gold is some, ...... (inhale, pop) bad ass weeeed."

I love this song from Up In Smoke for some reason. Maybe because it was one of the funniest movies of my teen years. I just remember laughing VERY HARD. I also laughed at Cheech and Chong's other films (I'd have to look them up). And while we are on the subject of "weed" as they call it now in the My Space age (not pot) as we did in the 70s...What is unbelieveable to me are how many successful millionaires there are who spent their high school years in a foggy drugged up haze. I say, WHY STUDY? I should have enjoyed drugs more in high school. Nonetheless, I need to review what I did wrong. Maybe Sarah Silverman might be able to tell me.

Do You Feel Like We Do? Peter Frampton

Heard this on the radio last night in the car. Wow. The long version where he sounds like a guitar. 1978. All over again. "Woke up this mornin' with a wine glass in my hand. Whose wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine?

Madonna’s Street Urchin Days

Amy Arbus took this photo of Madonna walking down the street in the East Village in Manhattan. I love this photo. Probably because her coat is so dirty but she looks so prim and neat. These were her early gritty days where she ate food out of trash cans. If you don't believe me look it up. She talks about it in many interviews. Yes, she has come a long, long way.

New Apple Store NYC Manhattan

I am speechless. Great site for new APPLE store. Great Idea. Reminds me of I.M. Pei's pyramid at the Louvre.
